Triple Layer Irish Breakfast Tea Cake

makes 1 Delicious triple layer 9' cake!

Prep Time: approx.1 hour
Serving Size: 8-12

Ingredients
Irish Breakfast Cake

4 Cups sifted flour
3 Teaspoons baking powder
1 Teaspoon salt
1 Cup unsalted butter, softened (2 sticks)
2 Cups Sugar
4 Eggs
1 Tablespoon Vanilla
1/3 Cup Milk, room temp
1 Cup Irish Breakfast brewed Tea, room temp
green food coloring (optional)

Irish Breakfast Butter Icing

3 Tablespoons Milk
3 Tablespoons Irish Breakfast brewed tea,room temp
3 Cups sifted Confectioners sugar
6 Tablespoons Butter
Dash Salt
1 Tablespoon Vanilla

Directions
In small bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside for now.,

In large bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add eggs one at a time, beating it in well inbetween each egg added. Add vanilla.
Add milk & flour to butter mixture, alternating a little at a time of each until batter is very smooth. Beat well. (if using a mixer beat med/high)
Optional step - divide batter in 1/3-1/2 to separate bowl add food coloring, drops to color desired, mix well in-between drops added.
Pour batter into 3 9' round cake pans (greased lightly or sprayed)(for a triple layer cake) only 1/2 full do NOT overfill pans. (Optional with green batter pour or drop across top of batter already poured take a batter knife and make swirls with the green into the batter already poured into the pans. Bake in 325 degree preheated oven approx. 25-30 mintues turn pans about half way through baking time.
Allow cakes to cool in pans for about 10 mintues. loosen with a spatula or knife remove from pans and cool completely
While cakes are cooling you can prepare the icing add food coloring if desired.
Once cakes are cool, you can stakc or if desired add a bit of icing between each layer
Spread icing at once..
